Less Stress & Anxiety

Through mindfulness practice, we cultivate present-moment awareness without judgment, paying attention to what is happening now. This reorientation removes a lot of the fuel that powers anxiety and stress.

Less Impulsive & Fearful

Practicing mindfulness and awareness helps to cultivate steadiness – even in the midst of chaos. You develop more self-awareness of your actions, and are less affected by impulsivity and hesitation.

Less Self-Critical

Strengthening your mindfulness in a workplace environment can help you to become less critical and more accepting of yourself, so you’re better able to move forward with confidence and integrity when action is required.

Andrew Safer

Mindfulness Coach & Published Author

Hello, and welcome! I’m Andrew – a mindfulness coach and published author based in St John’s, NL, Canada. I began conducting mindfulness workshops in the community in 2010, and founded Safer Mindfulness in 2014.

Since 2015, I have presented “Workplace Mindfulness” workshops to members of the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador, undergraduate and graduate students at Memorial University, and pilot programs to Memorial University faculty and staff, health care managers, and uniformed and civilian members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary police.

I published my fifth book, Mindfulness in the Workplace: Cultivating Well-Being at Work, this year, which I am pleased to say was endorsed by some incredible individuals including Ruchika Sikri, former Head of Well-Being and Mindfulness Learning at Google; Scott Shute, former Head of Mindfulness and Compassion at LinkedIn; and Garry Lloyd, Chief Operating Officer at Mindful.org and mindfulness.com.

I enjoy helping workplace professionals substantially improve their work lives through the power and beauty of mindfulness, and I’d love to have the opportunity to do the same with you!

We’ll be running our weekly workshops online via Zoom. All you need is a computer or smartphone, an internet connection and yourself to begin each session. Once you’ve registered for the program online we will send over details on how to join the sessions.

We teach a variety of topics over the course of the program, which you can find in the course details on this page here.

In between sessions, you will receive links to relevant articles/videos, and a worksheet to complete.

The online Workplace Mindfulness Program will begin with the free introductory session via Zoom on Wednesday 25th September, and run every Wednesday after this across 6 workshops in total, finishing on Wednesday 30th October.

The workshops will run in the evenings between 6:30PM and 7:30PM EST.

Learning the art of mindfulness creates a present-moment orientation, making things manageable that could otherwise become overwhelming. You will also gain a greater understanding of thoughts, feelings, and emotions that puts you in the driver’s seat so that instead of being the victim of circumstances, you are better able to navigate challenges and recover from setbacks.

Mindfulness is a practice whereby we learn to become more aware of the present moment and be non-judgmental. Through doing so are better able to experience things as they are rather than through judgments, biases, and preconceptions.

The mindfulness program will last 6 weeks from Wednesday 25th September to Wednesday 30th October. Every weekly workshop will last for 1 hour in the evenings between 6:30PM and 7:30PM EST.

No, all you need is yourself! Workplace Mindfulness is for both beginners and mindfulness practitioners alike. We simply ask that you arrive with an open mind and interest in this novel approach to cultivating workplace well-being.

As a mindfulness practitioner of 55 years and a mindfulness instructor for 30+ years (authorized by Shambhala International of Halifax, Nova Scotia), Andrew developed this program based not only on his mindfulness and meditation background, but on extensive research too. His new book, “Mindfulness in the Workplace” has been endorsed by mindfulness leaders in five countries.

The International Mindfulness and Meditation Alliance recognizes Safer Mindfulness as an accredited training provider for Andrew’s Mindfulness-Awareness Meditation Instructor Training Course.
